Geometry

Geometry is the study of shapes.  In Latin, it means earth measurement.  In this geometry class we study:  Geometric Reasoning, Parallel & Perpendicular Lines, Triangle Congruence, Triangles, Polygons & Quadrilaterals, Similarity, Right Triangle Trigonometry, Perimeter, Circumference, Area, Spatial Reasoning, and Circles.

All homework is worth 5 points, and is due two days after being assigned.  An example would be if assigned on Wed, it will be due on Friday.  The reason for this is it gives students the opportunity to ask questions on an assignment in class before it is due.  We also have about two quizzes per chapter worth 15-25 points each.  At the end of each chapter we have a test worth 100 points.  After the test I also assign cumulative review problems to be completed in class.  There is a semester exam given at the end of the first semester that is mandatory for all students to take that is worth 20% of their first semester grade.  At the end of the school year, there is a cumulative final for all students that is worth 100 points, the same as a chapter test.  Daily work and projects makes up about 50% of the grade, while quizzes and tests make up the other 50%.
