Algebra II

Algebra II is the continuation of the Algebra I course.  New concepts are introduced while the skills of Algebra I are reinforced.  The material to be covered in Algebra II is:  Functions, Quadratic Functions, Polynomial Functions, Exponential & Logarithmic Functions, Radical & Rational Functions, Probability, Data Analysis & Statistics, Sequences & Series, Trigonometric Functions, and Conic Sections.

This course is not required by the Langford Board of Education, but is recommended to any student furthering their education beyond high school.  I classify this as a college preparatory course, so my grading policy does change.  Homework assignments are given daily, but are not collected until the day of the chapter test.  Students have to be disciplined to keep up with assignments.  Homework is worth 20 points per chapter.  I also give about two quizzes per chapter worth 15-25 points each.  The chapter test is worth 100 points.  After each test, a cumulative review worksheet is given to be completed in class.  Tests and quizzes make up about 70% of their grade, while homework and worksheets make up the other 30%.  A semester test is mandatory for all students at the completion of the first semester that is worth 20% of their first semester grade.  At the end of the year a cumulative final is given to all students that is worth 100 points, the same as a chapter test.  I feel that this method of grading is preparing them for college.
